WHAT IS PEAT? Peat is the sphagnum plant that is digested under oxygen-poor (anaerobic) conditions. There are different types such as peat, garden peat and peat moss. Each type has its own physical benefits. For MeeGaa Substrates, peat is the most important raw material for the production of substrates. Because of the diversity in origin, origin and production method, many different qualities are available. Water retains good in peat and buffers the nutrition. Because it is a product that itself contains few nutritional elements, it is widely applicable. Nowadays the peat extraction is harvested ecological, taking into account nature value and environment. Thanks to its excellent physical and chemical properties, peat remains the most important raw material for use in substrates. MeeGaa Substrates produces potting soils and substrates with peat that meet the individual wishes of customers. The collaboration with Nevema is therefore of great importance for the availability of peat from our own control. It is also becoming increasingly important to produce potting soils and substrates at companies in the Baltic States.
